Boettcher Team Wins 2008
Australian Speedway Title
After
nearly 30 years of competing, the Ian Boettcher Racing Team has won the
Australian Supersedan Title.
Supersedans
are based on NASCAR type V8 cars and race in every state in Australia.
With over 700hp and competing on a 1/4 mile oval dirt track, these sedans
are the pinnacle of dirt track sedan racing in Australia.
With driver
Jamie McHugh, the team competed against over 70 drivers from around
Australia in Mildura in Victoria on the weekend of 8/9 March. McHugh lead
for the entire race and was a deserved winner.
Ian
Boettcher has been contesting this title since the 1970's and the Title
has been his most elusive to date. The winning car was a Mazda RX 8, hand
built in Ian's Race Car fabrication facility in Bundamba at Ipswich.
Said
Ian Boettcher, "another win for Queensland and a great accolade for our
local race team. I'm very grateful for the support of my extended family,
who have sacrificed so much time over the years to achieve this goal".
